We believe that broad, democratic access to education strengthens the common good of communities - Common Good Atlanta

OUR STORY

The name, Common Good Georgia Tech (CGGT), is not one that we can boast thinking of on our own.  Our founding was inspired by Common Good Atlanta, an organization comprised of volunteer professors who teach college courses to the incarcerated population.  One of Common Good Atlanta's core convictions states that communities are weakened when access to higher education is restricted on a basis of wealth, privilege, or class, and we strive to join them in their goal of broadening access to education and educational tools.

We were originally founded with the aim of creating a pathway for Georgia Tech students to easily volunteer as tutors in Juvenile Justice Centers, but our mission has expanded over the course of 2020.  We have spent this year building our leadership team and working to create volunteer opportunities for GT students with our High School Tutoring and Next Level Literacy Programs.  Now, we are looking to expand our membership and continue growing this organization.
